Free Personal Web Space
Every Power Link customer receives 10MB of free personal web space. You can use this space to create a personal home page. Your personal web space will be maintained within the adelphia.net domain.
Once your webspace has been established, you can upload your personal website. You can create your personal website using a wide variety of HTML web development tools. There are many free and low cost authoring tools that are available; to find more information, go to www.download.com and browse under web development tools and HTML editors.

How much Web space is available?
|
|
Personal web hosting accounts are configured for 10 MB of server space.
You will need to request the space to make it active.

Can I purchase additional web space?
|
|
No, additional webspace is currently not available for purchase. However, Adelphia does offer several competitively priced Web Hosting packages, click here for details.

How many personal web accounts can I have?
|
|
One personal web account is available for use with your Adelphia High-Speed Internet service. If you would like more options, click here to learn about our Adelphia Web Hosting packages.

What do I name my opening page?
|
|
Your homepage or opening page must be named index.html in order
for the site to be viewed. Most servers look for the index.html
file as the default page to load when browsers call a URL. Example:
If you were to type www.adelphia.net in the location field, the
browser will send a request to the server for www.adelphia.net/index.html
Adelphia has already created an index.html file for you. It is found in
the public_html directory. This is the default directory where all your
html files and folders will be placed. If you've just setup your account
and have not uploaded any file as of yet please browse to your homepage
by typing http://users.adelphia.net/~username Where your username is the
username you chose when you signed up for Web Space and is also part of your
email address. If your username is jdoe just type http://users.adelphia.net/~jdoe.
You should see a page that redirects you to a tutorial page located on Adelphia.net.
In order to change this page
you must create an index.html file and upload it into the public_html directory.
Uploading your index.html file will overwrite the existing index.html. After doing
this browse to your homepage. You should now see the html page you've created.
If you do not see your new page, try reloading the page.

The server name to FTP to is users.adelphia.net and the directory is public_html
or use the site ftp://users.adelphia.net/public_html .

What is a personal Account?
|
|
A personal web account allows for an Adelphia customer to reserve space on our server
hard drive. The space would be used for posting personal web pages not to consist
of commercial material or business oriented language.

Can I use my personal site for Commercial use?
|
|
Adelphia personal web space is reserved for personal web pages only. No commercial oriented web pages will be permitted. To learn more about Adelphia Web Hosting packages, click here.

Does Adelphia support FrontPage?
|
|
Adelphia provides FrontPage Extensions at no extra cost.
|
|
|

What HTML editors does Adelphia support?
|
|
You may use any HTML editor to create your web pages. However uploading
varies with each. Many of the HTML editors today come with a Publishing
wizard such as Netscape and Microsoft FrontPage. Adelphia does not provide
technical support for any such editors.

Can I run CGI scripts with my Personal Web account ?
|
|
At this time Adelphia does not allow the use or uploading of CGI scripts. Our servers currently are not configured for the use of CGI scripts.

How do I upload to my Personal Web Account?
|
|
You can upload your webpages via an HTML editor or a standard FTP client. Adelphia does not endorse or support these third party softwares.

What FTP clients can I use?
|
|
You may use any FTP client you wish.

Do I get a Telnet Shell account with the Personal Web account?
|
|
At this time Adelphia is not offering a Telnet shell account with the Personal Web Space package.

Can I use Macromedia's Shockwave ?
|
|
Shockwave is not supported by Adelphia at this time.

Can I use Real Audio ?
|
|
Adelphia is not supporting Real Audio at this time.

Can I use Databases with FrontPage.
|
|
Although FrontPage has Database Connectors, you cannot run a database on your FrontPage virtual server. Databases are very high-end and very expensive, we do not offer them as a service.

Can I use Web cams?
|
|
Web cams are fully compatible with your web service through Adelphia.
|

How can I view my Access Logs?
|
|
Currently Adelphia does not offer access to log reports for web account activity. A free service providing access reports is available at

Does Adelphia offer Static IP addressing?
|
|
Static IP addresses are available to Adelphia Small Business customers.

Can I use Java?
|

Java Applets will work with your personal web account.

How can I change my web space password?
|
|
You can request your password to be changed by going to the Personal Web Hosting page. Then click on the Change Web Password link. In the Users.Adelphia.Net Account section, click on the link to change your password. Fill in the form and your password will be changed. Please allow up to 48 hour for your website account password to updated. You will need to enter in your current password.

What if I forgot my current web password?
|
|
On the form to change your users.adelphia.net web space password, click on the Please email me my password link. Enter in your userID and it will be sent to that email address.

Why can't I post an executable file on my web space?
|
|
Due to security concerns, our web servers are not configured to allow downloading of executable files. Compressed files of any type, commonly known as "zipped" files, may be downloaded from your web space.

Will Adelphia help me write my web space using html code?
|
|
We do assist our customers with connecting and uploading of the web pages, but we do not support the actual HTML coding of the page. There are plenty of resources available on the Internet that helps teach HTML. To find some, just use a search engine and look for HTML.
